No, I don't know why I'm up.

I've got it in my stupid head to start an lj com again, kinda like Amity Slash, but... Less... erm... Amity Slash, if that makes any sense. It was fun, but kinda devolved into a clusterfuck towards the end.

So! To avoid that should my little OCD goldfish brain keep clinging to this idea... What sort of things do you guys enjoy in your current rps? Stuff like structure, organization, mod involvement? What about plots? How to thread together panfandom rps? Or failing all of that, can anybody rec panfandom rps they're already in that would make for good inspiration or examples of how it's done right?

Won't be online for a bit longer as I am going to pound my head onto my computer until words come out. Cripes.

Also, why is it so hard to think of a bankai for Hanatarou of all people?

Taking Requests for Ganju/Hanatarou Fanfics

I need to limber up a bit for NaNoWriMo this year. So! Taking fic requests for Ganju and Hanatarou since I'd like to try something with them this year, but no telling how that'll turn out. :/

Give me a basic scenario, first sentence, nitty gritty specifics, side characters you'd like to see them interact with, alternate timeline or alternate universe, title, or just general content you'd like to see in it. Anything from, "Something about flowers!" to a paragraph long description of everything that happens point to point.

I'll try to make these at least 500 words long and aim for 1000 if I can.

I'm looking for new ideas that break from the old cliche fics we've all read, although variations on old favorites are nice, too. :3

Also, I so do not have a problem writing porn, lemons, adultfics, what have you. ;3

Dear artists/photoshop wizards on my flist:

FC needs icons of Hanatarou Yamada as a girl.

It's for an rp... thing.

Can offer fics, books, or $ in return.

Will be more coherent after sleep.

EDIT: ...Remind me if I already owe you something.

WANTED: New Fandom

FC wants a new fandom. Lord knows you folks have tried to rec some good ones to me that either didn't stick or I didn't give a fair shake. So let's give it one more try. I'm listing some old favorites, both fandom and fandom specifics, and you guys give me what ya got. Sell your series to me, baby! Tell me what's hot about it, what I should look out for, what you know will stroke my happy spots, what story/arc/episode I should start with, or characters you know I'll fall in love with.

Past/Current fandoms that have gripped my ladybits with joy: Outlaw Star, Yu-gi-oh! DM, Gargoyles, Animorphs, Bleach, Ninja Turtles.

Characters that have made me squee and were worth writing about: Hanatarou Yamada (Bleach), Ganju Shiba (Bleach), Kenpachi Zaraki (Bleach), Gene Starwind (Outlaw Star), Brooklyn (Gargoyles), Honda Hiroto (Yu-gi-oh! DM), Otogi Ryuuji (Yu-gi-oh! DM), Aximilli (Animorphs).

Series/Authors I would give my left nut ovary to have written: Anything by Terry Pratchett, FAKE (the manga), Clifford Simak, Ray Bradbury, Vonda McIntyre, Stephen King (when he doesn't have word diarrhea), Dean Koontz (before he went all waffley new age), Kubo Tite (when there's actual plot, damn it), Oda (I know OP isn't on my fandom list, but good god the man can pull the most random shit together so damned well).

Stuff that will have me reading each time: Drama without melodrama, humor without cruel farce, fluffy stories that don't pump sunshine up my ass, horror that actually scares and disturbs, awesome fight scenes that don't last entire volumes (Bleach, I'm looking at you!), plots that are complex but don't require field guides and flow charts to understand, whimsy, fantastic scifi, etc.

Bonus points for any fandoms that have awesome lady characters. That list of there is woefully short of awesome lady characters. :

Weekends and Hibernating

I spent the entire weekend either asleep or at work. The few times I could rouse up and try to check shit online the stupid net connection kept winking in and out. (Note to self: There's a reason tech support includes "is it plugged in?" among the first of the troubleshooting questions.) I know at one point I was out for about thirteen hours solid. I remember waking up long enough to turn over every couple hours, but that's about it. Just this long session of "Do not want" when it came to consciousness and doing anything that didn't involve curling up in a fetal position in my warm bed.

My new glasses are also shit. If they're adjusted for farsightedness, shouldn't that make things further away a bit easier to see? Not... blurrier? Bwarg. I'll have to call them back and say, "Nope, still not working," and wait another week or whatever until I can hitch a ride back to Lex and get them looked at again. A working car would be lovely for that so I can quit with the actual hitching part. And being able to focus on more than a string of letters at a time on my computer screen would also be nice, kthnx.

Bwargh.

Bleach Chapter 373 Spoilers

dragon
Translation of the spoiler for the latest Bleach chapter, taken from here.

Chapter Begins as Yammi has captured Rukia . Chad and Renji are already down on their knees .

Yammi and Rukia have an exchange and he's about to pound her into the ground .

When Ichigo saves her and says he's going to hurry up and finish this trivial battle .

Rukia: Why are his eyes...not of someone who won in the battle above?

Rukia says something like: "That guy's rank...isn't the same as the rank of the guy you defeated."

The 3 go off and watch the fight from a distance. It doesn't appear they will be involved .

Ichigo says he's going to quickly defeat him . Then go to the real world and dons his mask .

Looks like Ichigo's mask has a horn. And Chapter Ends

Ahem.

WHAT THE HELL?!

nanoWTFmo

Righto. That time of year again. November in a couple of weeks and time to start nanowrimo again. Hell, who knows, might even finish. I just can't decide on what to start. I've got some old necro story ideas I can drag up and shine up in time to have something to work with, or go with that current urge to write something fannish for Bleach that doesn't send me into spasms of rage.

(Seriously, Kubo, what the hell is up with the last few chapters? Tiny chunks of diamond hard awesome tossed around in a giant pile of poo. Even up a little bit and maybe shine down that fanboy boner you've got for Ichigo.)

So here's a few random ideas that I'm blathering out, most of 'em Hanatarou and Ganju centered, each blurb told in 100 words exact.

Title: Placebo
Who: Hanatarou, Ganju, Tatsuki, Keigo, Don Kanoji.
What: Ganju is sent to the human world. He meets Hanatarou, who has no memory of his life or mission. The two of them have to figure out where the other shinigami have gone and and the source of a Hollow related sickness that can cause the living to grow masks. Karakura Town becomes sealed in a mysterious shield that the living can cross but traps the dead within. They find help from unlikely sources with students Tatsuki and Keigo and the spiritualist Don Kanoji along the way, but still have to discover what solution is hiding in Hanatarou's lost memory.
Where: Bleach fandom, mild AU
Why: Already have an assload of notes for this one and there's this one scene that I have to write somewhere, reasoning be damned.

Title: The Flower of Shiba
Who: Hanatarou, Ganju, Kukaku, others
What: Hanatarou gets framed for the attempted poisoning of a high ranking noble officer and is kidnapped/rescued before a proper investigation can even start. Abandoned in the Rukon with no way back and no way of proving his identity, he turns to the only allies he can think of: the Shiba clan. One case of mistaken identity builds up on another and he finds an unexpected role as Lady Hanako, healer and bride to be of one Ganju Shiba. Neither is quite certain how that rumor got started, but it might be just the cover Hanatarou needs to prove his innocence.
Where:
Bleach fandom
Why: Exploration of gender roles and affect on identity, as well as... Okay, Hana in a bright and pretty kimono. Stfu.

Title: untitled
Who: Hanatarou, Ganju, Kukaku, others (yes, there is a pattern)
What: The battle split between the fake Karakuar Town and Heuco Mundo takes a turn for the worse. Forces are divided and the Seireitei is left defenseless against an unexpected attack. Unohana sends Hanatarou back with a message for Urahara and his allies. Soul Society itself is the true sacrifice Aizen will use to create the Oken, cost be damned. A weapon hidden away in the Seireitei could be the only thing that can buy enough time for Ichigo and the Captains to return. A small group must defend the Seireitei and countless souls that will be lost if they fail.
Where: Bleach fandom
Why: Because I've been whining the last few chapters of Bleach suck. If I'm gonna bitch that much, might as well try my own hand at it.

(And this is totally a fake cut to a previous journal entry from 2 years ago, whining about essentially the same thing, but with my own shit instead of someone else's.)

FC is having a very unhappy time of the month. So, happy flist, what sort of little things do you do to feel better? Happy scents or flavors or colors, recommendations for cheap/quick little pamper things that can perk up and help focus or relax.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Blah, blah, variation on a meme I've seen floating around. I'm tired and I ache and feel like shit and I've somehow managed to screw up my sleep schedule entirely through the feeling like shit thing. Stupid net's been fritzing for hours until I realized it was a simple stupid fucking cord loose on the router box. So I figure, hey, why not add more to it?

Anonymous commenting only. Tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I'm not doing at all. Stuff I need to start or finish or stupid projects I just need to let go entirely. Not looking for soft little ego pats or well-meaning words of "Don't worry." I need brutal honesty.

Go nuts.

I actually understand now why some people bitch and moan about their precious favorite characters getting ruined in canon. Right here at about the 23:30 mark is the Shinigami Golden omake of the recently subbed Bleach ep 236. I've been waiting almost forty eps for Hanatarou to show up and wheee. We get about five seconds of him being competent or at least not tripping over his face and then he's freaking out over a cardboard/stuffed/statue of the Seaweed Ambassador. This is a trained medical officer who while a bit flakey, has (mostly) been shown as at least competent at what he does, which is healing and treating people. Not... freaking out over fucking cardboard/stuffed/statues/whatever.

Meh. I should be in bed.

[blathering] Is Ganju a shinigami, y/n?

I wrote this in reply to a post on a messageboard and I'm not sure of the replies I'll get there, but I think it's shiny, so I'll post it here. XD;; This was in response to a thread asking if Ganju were a shinigami and if his sword were a zanpakuto.

(Here's the original thread.)

And here's my long ass reply. )

[fic] One Piece - "Duality" and "Polaris"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMMY!

Title: Duality

"Usopp's different when he puts that mask on."

No one paid the simple comment any mind or any really attention. Of course Usopp was different when he put on the mask and cape; some people needed something to hide behind in order to be their real self. In Usopp's case it was a lie that just happened to be a different version of the same truth. Luffy's crew smiled and told him of course Usopp was different with the mask, even if they didn't quite understand when Luffy told them he was different without the mask, too, sometimes.

Luffy gave up hoping any of them would understand. He knew that despite missing something rather obvious right in front of them, they at least had the important part of caring about Usopp done right. It was left up to Luffy to wrap his arms around Usopp one night when he smiled a different sort of smile under the moonlight and for Luffy said, "I love both of you."

Title: Polaris
Rating: G

After traveling with the Thousand Sunny and finding family in her crew, going back to visit Kaya no longer felt like going home. It was like returning to someone important, of course, but Usopp's heart was invested in new hopes and new dreams. Dreams he wanted to share and dreams he was delighted to find his friends and family sharing with her. She smiled and laughed at all their stories, eyes shining brightest during Usopp's.

He tried to pretend it was home for a while, saying goodbye to his new family and trying to find something of the old on a single island. Usopp's eyes kept drifting to the horizon when they weren't fixed on her smiling face and shining eyes. Those remained bright and firm in his mind like a guiding star to lead a ship back to port. One long day some many months after, his family returned. Usopp didn't want to leave them again, wanted to return to that place that felt like home. But that meant leaving his star behind as well. It was a choice that would haunt him no matter what he decided and he knew it was a goodbye that would last for ages no matter who he said it to.

It wasn't until later, when Usopp stood at the dock and watched the Sunny getting reloaded, that he saw Kaya approach with a smile and bright eyes and a heavy pack over her shoulder. She grinned at him and said, "So where are we going?"

"Home," Usopp said and caught her in a tight embrace.

Hana!
Pfffffft. Hana, what the hell? Why won't you sit still in my head long enough for me to think of an appropriate zanpa spirit for you? I've got the little hyotan-kozo fella for the private rp, with the option for spiffy monk with straw hat and gourd hanging from his staff upgrade if Hana ever gets off his ass to master his shikai and zanpakuto properly.

But I have no idea what in the hell to use for the Checkmate rpg. Vine-based bird or turtle? Or something humanoid? No idea! Blargh. [headdesk]

Kuwabara read auras, but Yuusuke was learning to read Kuwabara.

To anyone else, it might have looked like Kuwabara was always trying to pick a fight or invading personal space. To Yuusuke, however, there was a world of subtlety between a swat to the back of the head or a casual arm slung over his shoulder. He'd gotten good at telling the difference between action and intent. A slug to the head from the side might mean "I'm worried" while a rough hug might mean "I'm pissed."

Yuusuke was persistent. A slight smile might mean anger and a sharp grin might mean relief. Emotion leant Kuwabara's body language an untold number of dialects, each distinct from the next. An eyebrow quirked in disbelief with a jagged scowl and tense shoulders. A lopsided smile and broad hands held palm up. Lips curled in distaste and a finger jabbing roughly forward. Yuusuke was learning how to read them all.

One day Kuwabara looked at him with a lopsided smile and soft eyes and hands jammed in his pockets. Yuusuke was trying translate that when that lopsided smile meet his own speculating frown and one of those strong hands cupped his cheek. It never occurred to Yuusuke that in trying to read Kuwabara, maybe Kuwabara was trying to read him.
